Yantis Family Tree

Hello family members. If you have the Yantis name in your family, you are probably related. This is a basic family tree for our families. I hope this helps you get started building your own family tree. This page will go back to our probable family origin in Germany for three family generations. It will also cover the Yantis family in the United States since 1770's and the origin of the Yantis name, prior to 1805 in Kentucky (Jacob Yandes used Yantis in his Will, dated Dec. 1804).

To avoid identity theft, this tree is detailed for deceased generations and does not list the names of current generations. (This is a list to die for :) ) A little ghostly humor from our dearly departed.

To get started, click on the Master Links page. Please note that Hans George had numerous children but we only list George Jentes and a ???? for an unknown sibling. George had three boys that came to the states. Site Map 1 will list the descendants of Daniel, Site Map 2 will list the descendants of Jacob Yantis (our family) and Site Map 3 will list the descendants of John.

I am going to concentrate on Site Map 2 until it is mostly finished and then I will work on the other two site maps. Please bare with me. This is a long term project. When it is finished I will also develop an alphabetical listing of Yantis desendants.

Info on Enoch Yantis:
For many years Enoch worked as a Tanner. When his tanyard and books burned in 1835, Enoch turned to farming until 1852, he was thus engaged. The Wayne County Census for 1850 lists Enoch and Eleanor as living on a farm in that county. Amanda and Elizabeth were still at home. For many years Enoch served as Justice of the Peace and for two years he was High Sheriff of Russell County. Both Enoch and his wife were members of the Baptist Church and Enoch served as a Deacon.
